Privacy policy
Fareaway works without accounts or sign-up. This page describes the few data we process, why, for how long, and your rights. Data controller: the publisher of the site, reachable at contact@fareaway.io.
What the map stores in your browser
Two preferences are stored locally (localStorage) and never sent to our servers or third parties: your consent choice for audience measurement cookies (fw-consent) and your departure city (fw-origin), so it is remembered between visits. Search settings (budget, month, trip length, city) are kept in the page address so a link can be shared; they are not linked to your identity.
Geolocation
To suggest a departure city, we use the approximate country and city derived from your IP address by our host Cloudflare, server-side, without storing them. Precise browser geolocation is used only if you click "Use my location", and only to find the nearest airport; the position is not recorded.
Audience measurement
Cloudflare Web Analytics measures visits without cookies or individual identifiers. Google Analytics 4 is enabled only after you accept via the consent banner; it then sets cookies (_ga prefix, 13 months) that let Google distinguish visits; IP addresses are truncated. You can decline or withdraw consent at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser (the banner will reappear). No advertising cookies are used.
Contact form
The data you enter (name, e-mail address, message) is sent to us by e-mail to answer your request, on the basis of your consent. It is kept for the time needed to handle the request and at most twelve months, then deleted. It is neither shared nor used for marketing.
Partner links
The "See flights", hotel and activity buttons lead, through a Travelpayouts affiliate redirect, to partner sites (Aviasales, Tiqets…). From that click, these partners process your data under their own policies and may set their own cookies (notably to attribute the commission to Fareaway). Fareaway receives no personal data about your booking.
Hosting and technical logs
The site is served by Cloudflare, which generates technical logs (IP address, requested page, timestamp) for security and operation, retained for a limited time under its terms. Any transfers outside the European Union are covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability over your data, and the right to withdraw consent. Write to contact@fareaway.io. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL). Last updated: September 2026.
